AKSARA GOES GREEN
The award-winning documentary and book An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore
has done much to bring back attention to global warming. The alarming
results of studies published in the book and widely covered by the media
indicate that global warming is real, with overwhelming and undeniable
evidence. Climate change may be the most obvious, with an increasing
number of severe storms and droughts occurring around the world. If the
worst predictions come true, global warming could destroy the conditions
which make human life possible.
In support of the worldwide effort to raise awareness of the climate
crisis and ethical living - what we can do to assist change- or at least
not impose further damage!- Aksara will campaign the theme at our stores
through various events as well as permanent in-store programs.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag)
We would like to encourage our customers to avoid unnecessary packaging
(reducing waste = reducing carbon emissions) by bringing their own bag for
their purchases. We are in the process of procuring a more
environmentally-friendly alternative to replace our plastic shopping bag,
effective once the current supply runs out.
AKSARA GREEN TIPS for ETHICAL LIVING
In collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)-Indonesia , we
will feature an Aksara Goes Green tip on ethical living, tailored to our
customers lifestyle, in every e-newsletter. Information brochures will
also be available at our counters, courtesy of WWF-Indonesia.
